Limerick Inside out: Intercultural competence for global citizenship
The Limerick Inside Out Practicum is a service learning modules designed for visiting students to our University. The aim of the service learning experience to enhance the international students’ experience of being in Ireland by working closely with civic groups in addressing the needs of refugees and asylum seekers who have moved to the Limerick area. The students on the programme leverage their experience as insider-outsiders and work with refugees and asylum seekers on a range of activities aimed at enhancing their lives. The students conduct a needs analysis amongst refugee groups and feed these back to the city and county council.
