II Meeting – Legal Clinics of the Universities of the Community of Madrid

The II Meeting of Legal Clinics of the Madrid Universities is dedicated to the virtuous triad, namely, the one that consists of Clinical Teaching, Service-Learning Methodology (S-L) and the Agenda 2030 and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This event serves as a framework, first, to congratulate that 15 years ago, the Legal Clinic of Human Rights Javier de Romañach began to develop a new way of legal teaching with social impact. Secondly, to recall that 5 years ago, the Protocol of Action of the Legal Clinic was approved by the Governing Council of the Carlos III University of Madrid on September 24, 2015. Which it was the final step of the institutionalization of the Legal Clinic.

At present, clinical training already permeates academic programs of some grades, which represents a new opportunity for students and teachers to be more effectively and efficiently involved in a learning of the Legal issues anchored in the commitment to society.

Therefore, this meeting is intended to be a forum to remember the initial experiences, to present the current advances and, above all, to reflect collectively on the challenges that clinical teaching will have to face, especially when using service-learning methodology.
