Criminology and Service-Learning
About 250 undergraduate students in their second year, take a core module, Criminology & Service-Learning. As part of this, they work in groups with local not for profit organisations. The community partner brings to us their challenge and the students attempt to use their academic skills and knowledge to tackle the issue.
Projects range from more traditional research projects to organising events, directly serving communities and political action.
All students are assessed, by a combination of presentations back to the community organisation and via a reflective report which asks the students to identify the root causes of the issue brought to them.
