Community Service Learning in Teacher Education
All aspiring teachers fulfill community service learning during their educational bachelor program in a subject called ‘Identity In Diversity’. They follow this course during each year of the three-year program.
Essential is the following: they experience working with vulnerable and high-risk children, youngsters and adults, always in an educational setting.
The experiences are always linked to theoretical background knowledge and reflection practices. The aim is to widen their perspective and broaden their minds through empathy with vulnerable people in less fortunate circumstances. We work closely with social organisations in the vicinity of our university colleges to set up the CSL-activities. It’s a win-win for everybody involved.
We select the organisations carefully based on the quality of their mentorship of our students.
